You have eaten them, I am sure you have. But have you ever wondered why a sandwich is called "a sandwich"? Here you have the story.

According to the tradition, in the 18th century, John Montagu, Fourth Earl of Sandwich, used to ask his servants to serve him his meal between bread to not interrupt his probably intense games of cards; games he was fond of playing. That way he wouldn't get his hands greasy or dirty.

Of course, this man did not invent the sandwich. He, at the most, gave it a name. This idea of placing the meat between pieces of bread is very old; for some historians, as old as mankind.

Now sandwiches are part of most people's feeding habits, which, in turn, means there are dozens of recipes for a variety of sandwiches.
