Tequila is a liquor made from the core of a plant called agave. The purest tequila is made only from a variety called blue agave, but some percentage of other varieties is also accepted.

Tequila is the national drink of Mexico, in North America.

1 1/2 oz. tequila
1 oz. coffee liquor

The cockroach (cucaracha, in Spanish) is a flambé cocktail. To make one, you pour the ingredients into an old-fashioned glass; and next you light the drink. Once it's lit, you grab a straw and drink it!

1/2 oz. lemon juice
3/4 oz. curaçao triple sec
1 1/2 oz. white tequila

The Margarita is one of the most classic (and tasty) tequila cocktails. To prepare one, you need to mix the ingredients in a shaker and serve without ice in a Martini glass crowned with salt.

1 1/2 oz. white tequila
1 1/2 oz. banana cream
dash blue curaçao

The Olé is one of the IBA annual contest champions. I like it a lot. To make one, pour the ingredients in a mixing glass, stir them for a few seconds and next serve in a cocktail glass. To garnish, add a lime twist.

Silk stalking

1 1/2 oz. white tequila
3/4 oz. white cacao cream
2 oz. evaporated milk
1/2 oz. grenadine syrup

Like every other cocktail with milk, the Silk Stalking needs to be mixed in a shaker. Do that with all ingredients for about eight seconds. Next, serve it without ice in a cocktail glass.

Tequila sunrise

2 oz. tequila
fill with orange juice
1/2 oz. grenadine syrup

Being a direct cocktail, you can make a glass of Tequila Sunrise pouring the tequila and the orange juice in a long-drink glass, and adding a little grenadine syrup to colour the drink. To garnish, a slice of orange in the rim of the glass looks good.
